Obedience Group Classes
At Willow Branch - Monticello
Our obedience classes are group classes with no more than 6 dogs in any given class. The classes are 6 weeks long. Start dates available on our Calendar. We offer 3 levels of obedience training (4 for puppies) that follows the APDT Canine Life and Social Skills Curriculum. We want you to have a dog trained for YOUR lifestyle and home. We do not focus excessively on tedious competition style obedience exercises, rather we practice skills for real life situations your family dog encounters on a daily basis!

-
no experience required! our pre-agility class starts from the very beginning, and makes the assumption that the learner knows absolutely nothing about agility and we start from scratch!
-
Yes! We have both students that are competing and trialing in the ring, AND students who do not have a goal of trialing, and just want to participate for fun and exercise. However, please note that safety is paramount, so those who are taking agility for fun will still be held to the same safety standards as those who trial (ex. must be ready and progressed through appropriate training before getting on large contact equipment).

Boarding Add-ons
Dogs who book boarding stays at Willow Branch - Monticello, or Willow Branch Kennel have the option to add on a number of wonderful activities to their stay, all handled by our trainer at Best Paw Forward Dog Training!
-
Training sessions can be added throughout your boarding stay! Available in 1 hour sessions or half hour sessions! During your dog's stay, our trainer, Jenna, will bring your dog to our spacious training room for a training session working on a topic of your request! Daily video summary of training session and update included! This is a great way to establish some obedience skills for your dog, touch up on some manners, train a specific request, or simply keep your dog engaged and enriched during their stay! Booking 5 sessions or more includes a FREE follow up visit after your dog's stay, to teach you and your family how to best transition these skills to the home!
Frequent training requests include:
-General basic obedience (sit, down, stay, come when called, drop it, etc)
-Manners (jumping up on people, counter surfing, walking in public, leash skills, settling in distracting environments)
-Specific requests (tricks, resolving specific irritating behaviors like leash biting, fitness, finding what type of play/exercise your dog enjoys, or anxiety reducing training)
Pricing is $60 per 1 hour session, or $35 per half hour session! Sessions can be scheduled for as many times during your dog’s stay as you desire!
For best results for requests for "all the basics" for obedience, please book at least 5 sessions! I will do my best with fewer sessions, but establishing several fundamental basic obedience skills takes time and repetition!

Do you have a dog that struggles with anxiety while boarding? With our Relaxation Station add on activity, our trainer gives your dog the tools they need to have a less stressful stay.
Relaxation station includes for each scheduled day:
Sentry Dog Appeasing Pheremone (calming and relaxing scent for dogs) sprayed on a comfort item or bed in the kennel each day (alternatively we can apply the nose cream version to your dog's nose)
Lickimat or filled Kong (licking is a self soothing activity to dogs, and releases serotonin and dopamine in the brain, helping them remain calm)
sniffari walk through a set up scent course in the training room (sniffing and searching is also a self soothing activity for dogs, and wears them out mentally, so they are ready for a nice nap when they return to the kennel)
Relaxation protocol Training: our trainer will go through 1 day of exercises from Karen Overall's Relaxation protocol- a proven method to teach dogs how to remain calm in the presence of stressors or a stressful environment.
Optional Green Elements CBD treat (+$3 add on option)
This service is $15 per scheduled day, and you can schedule relaxation station for every day, just once during your stay, every other day, or every 3rd day.
Please note we do not provide add on services for the first/last day of your dog's stay as pick up/drop off times are variable. Our booking system accounts for this when you make your reservation.
